They have been tar'ed, compressed, and uuencoded, then split into 2 parts (for mail). Untarring should produce: 4708 Jul 30 1990 apldef.tex 980 Jul 30 1990 aplstyle.tex 1951 Jul 30 1990 aplverb.tex 138707 May 25 1990 cmapl10.mf 24082 Jul 30 1990 tb0apl.tex 24402 Apr 4 14:17 tb0apls.tex The first group is the TeX system for producing the output. The last two are just two versions of the original TugBoat article (with examples). The last is just a version I made up that runs for me (I don't have the various style files I presume were used). Indeed you are correct in that they don't include APL functions for the translation of APL into TeX. This isn't too hard. I wrote something similar (in STSC's APL/PC) to get a portable ws description. I know the WSIS exists, but not everyone has a translator from it into their version of APL, and it's not readable by people (hence not easily portable over mail etc). I was planning to rewrite apldef.tex to use my definitions (only small differences, lots more overstrikes). Sam Sirlin Jet Propulsion Laboratory sam@kalessin.jpl.nasa.gov
