Further to a recent message about freeware for the Iverson
Software Product APLIWIN, I do not have a record of who asked the
question, but perhaps others will be interested as well. APLIWIN is
distributed with a copy of the Toronto Toolkit, a collection of APL
utilities. The version supplied is actually a more recent version than
is available from other sources, so it contains some additional
functions and features, and additional documentation. APLIWIN also
contains freeware utilities for moving functions between APL2, APLIWIN,
IAPL, and STSC APL (just the code, no "translation"). That is all the
APLIWIN freeware I am aware of.

Also further to some discussion about developing APL-ASCII
transliteration standards, I have come to the conclusion after a great
deal of work in this area that the best solution for this problem is to
use J! This is not a "joke" comment. Actually, many methods of
APL-ASCII transliteration will suffice; there is just no need to figure
out a method that everyone will agree on. The best method, however, I
think, is to use a language that uses a universal character set, and the
language closest to APL at the present time is J. Perhaps UNICODE will
change this situation once universally adopted.
