Rereading my post, I think I wasn't all that clear. So let me rephrase a bit:

We can define the verb h=.<@> which when applied to 1 2 3 (i.e, h 1 2 3)
reuslt in [1][2][3]
If we define h to be <@:> , h 1 2 3 will be [1 2 3]

All this is fine, dandy and obvious.

Clearly  we can see that RANK is the devil
here. Because of the rank of u@v we get the result of [1][2][3].
What bothered me was that that I was confused by thinking of @ as simply
"after" and forgetting its rank....
