using mathlink from mathematica to j is very definitely do-able and its
something i have been intending to do for some time

[i had a t-shirt saying that Mathematica is really APL2++ but its much
more like J++].

i got sidetracked from that project into writing a text on mathematica
programming but that's now done and i'm going to return to this project.

I'll try to post on my progress as it develops and would like to hear
from anyone else interested in this effort. work on going between C and J
such as mentioned by Emmett will be helpful.
