I agree wholeheartedly! I've looked at all I could find, which is
where my ideas came from (really just extension of what's out there).
But what mechanism should we use to pick one? 

1. wait for the standards commitee to decide
2. have a vote here in this newsgroup
3. have a vote in quote quad
4. pole the vendors
5. just start writing code for your favorite and see what happens
6. ??

I've been doing 1 and 5 somewhat, togther with others such as J.
Mitlohner. I do see there's some interest, so maybe it's time for
something more active such as a vote?
