another reason why there may be little APL discussion comes from ignorance.
I guess that there may be many others like me (not-so-good-at-programming)
who are listening in to comp.lang.apl.
The questions I would like to put would be more on the style of "I want to
sort a 3-dimensional numeric matrix by planes. What is the best way to do this?"
However, the style of the discussions in comp.lang.apl leads me to assume that
this is not the kind of question that would get an easy question (I guess it is
due to the fact that programmers should be able to figure this out by themselves) - but I'm not a programmer (and still I'm intersted in APL :-).
The end result is that I spend most of my time figuring out how to reinvent the wheel, and have not much free time to dwell into the exciting features of APL.
I guess that this may be typical of many not-so-well-trained APL users.
