As someone who has used APL for more than 15 years, I think to a large
extent the first suggestion was correct, APLers don't have questions. If my
experience is typical, (and I know it isn't, but... ) I use APL to get
things done NOW, and by and large it works. Until recently (getting a Ph.D.
in Applied Math), I have worked with and for engineers and other non-math
types supplying a mathematics and (of necessity) computing support role. I
started using APL because I was involved in short-lead time consulting
projects and have continued to use it for the same reason. And by and
large, I haven't had much trouble with APL. It lets me tackle (no excuses)
the main problems without worrying about computing. So I haven't really
felt that I had a significant contribution to make to the group, since APL
has just done its job quietly and effectively.
