I knew that the mmap() calls were much more standardized than the
dynamic loading code, but I didn't know that it was as widespread
as Andrew has found.  I think he's right that it's about as standard
as one can hope for in *ix these days.

Moreover, he's also right that they're just the right way to go
about the whole question of APL file access in *ix - what could
be more suited to APL than seeing a file as an indexed array?
