Open-ended respondents' suggestions for QQ

Small section for low level algorithims in order to attract newcomers.

I am a member of ACM but for some reason am not getting all the
QQ publications. I have v23 #1&2 for 1992 and v24 #1 &2 for 1993
and that is all. V24 #1 was sent to me by XXX who picked it up at
the conference.

Find the articles to be vague. More concrete articles on

Interview APL vendor marketing folks about their view of APL's
development and future.

Algorithms generally behind the rest of the planet. New product
reviews appear in Vector first. J stuff is OK. What interviews?
Letters are good. Most of the other stuff doesn't appear and
neither does bilingual stuff, praise be.
-----
Internet FTP sites, Public domain software
-----
As you can see by the varieties of apl that I use, standardization
issues are important to me.
-----
hard to classify this. You can never tell when something interesting
will show up. Mostly I look for interesting algorithms.
-----
What is of special interest to me is: algorithms, business, Conf.
proceedings, Scientific, J, telecommunications
-----
content is erratic, not too current, and of unreliable quality.
-----
QQ appears reluctant to cover controversial subjects in depth, such as
IS, GUI, and keyword debates.
-----
It has been sufficiently erratic in the past not to regard it as
seriously as a source of APL or J material as Vector. The Procedings
are invaluable. I would not mind if they were the primary form of
sigapl publication.
-----
QQ is definitely going more smoothly under Dr Polivka.

I have no suggestions at this point because I find that QQ is very well
done.

Haven't got it last year!
-----
I have not been reading QQ for long enough to form a complete opinion.
I do think, however, that the interviews are an excellent feature and
that the product reviews have almost no teeth. The coverage of APL-like
languages and of APLish extensions to other languages could be
stronger, too. Finally, this may be a private bias but I am totally
uninterested in APL-as-an-educational-tool or something like that.
Do you see any major programmer's journal waste time with that?
