Weather in Rome

The end of July is the warmest period of the year in Rome: it almost never rains, except for some unexpected and very unfrequent afternoon showers. However, the relative closeness of the sea mitigates, at a certain degree, the high temperatures with a gentle breeze. The humidity is quite high, especially in the morning, but in the late afternoon often a mild wind coming from the Castelli Romani (the ring of small towns surrounding Rome on the Western hills), the so-called Ponentino, greatly improves comfort.
